Desert Rose is a secluded waterfront house on the 5-acre Monticello Estate. It is perched directly over one of the most beautiful beaches on the Island, famous for the unbelievable pink sand and turquoise water.
Enjoy fantastic views looking at the Atlantic Ocean. The big beach Tiki Hut and the deck are a unique opportunity to enjoy the paradise from really close. Cool breezes, crystal waters, the Palmetto trees, and miles-long beaches are what you will experience staying at Monticello - Desert Rose.
Desert Rose is a two-bedroom, one-bath cottage. The master bedroom has a king bed and an additional room has a twin bunk bed. All rooms have separate ceiling fans and air conditioners. The living room has a big sofa as well as Satellite TV, DVD Player and stereo. The house has a separate laundry room with washing machine and dryer.
The house is ideal for 2-4 guests, but we can accommodate larger groups as well. Please see Monticello - Garden of Light - sleeps 6 guests.
We also rent Monticello - Blue Bahia Villa in Ten Bay, Eleuthera - sleeps 8 guests.

About The Owner
We are a family of four and we live in the United States.
Our passion for the Island of Eleuthera started in 2003 when we first went there on vacation.
We went back the year after as we really loved those pink sand beaches and the friendly local people.
We purchased our first home in 2005, we now own the Desert Rose house and the Garden of Light villa on the Atlantic coastal side, and the Blue Bahia villa on the Caribbean side of Eleuthera.
As we believe we have been lucky to find this paradise, we have decided to share our homes with guests.

Duiring your stay, please turn air conditioners off when windows and doors are open, and when you leave the house.

The house is on a rainwater cistern. Therefore, we kindly ask you to be conservative with water usage.
Any abuse resulting in damage or excessive electricity and water usage may be charged at the end of your stay.

Wonderful Stay
First let me say that our correspondence with Barbara was wonderful. She was quick to respond and very helpful during our booking process, and even when we had lots of questions, she was always quick to respond.
Our stay was just so wonderful and relaxing. If you are looking for a quiet and secluded vacation, this is the place for you. As you exit your car and walk up to the house, the views are just incredible. The pictures posted on the website, truly can't capture the breathtaking beauty of both the beach and water, and the property grounds. Standing there on the deck, we were just speechless, with the beauty of the nature all around us. The home is also set into such a beautiful natural landscape. We had the best of both worlds there. Breathtaking gardens and beaches. We felt like we were in a jungle at times. We saw and heard so many different variety of birds. The hummingbirds were amazing during our stay this time on Eleuthera. The outdoor Palapas both at the house and down by the beach were such a relief from the sun. We took many naps, read books and just sat and stared at the beauty all around us. ( The Palapa at the beach was so awesome, we spent so much time under there when the sun became too much. ) The walks on the beaches were incredible, the sand is so beautiful, and yes, it is truly pink at times. The snorkeling was incredible right out front of the house. We saw so many different marine life during our stay.
The caretaker Mrs. Williams was so wonderful, and helpful. She was just an amazing person.
The home was very clean, and perfect for the 2 of us. It is a simple and cozy cabin - We felt very at home there!
We have visited Eleuthera several times, and we would definitely rent this home again, and we will for sure.
We have also rented the Garden of Light home on this estate, and it was great as well.
Thank you Barbara for sharing your wonderful home with visitors, so we can make many wonderful memories with our families. Life is too crazy and busy for most, and it is so nice to come to paradise and detox from the chaos that we have all created in our lives. I love being there and living on Island Time, there is nothing else like it.

Great home base for exploring the island. Beautiful beach at your door and centrally located so it’s convenient for everything else you may want to do while on the island.

Amazing location, views, beach, and vacation!
An amazing place for a couple or small family looking for a relaxing, private getaway. The house itself was very clean and had all the conveniences needed. Internet connection was great, no problem streaming netflix. All the appliances were in perfect working condition. This is important because food in the grocery store is basically twice the price of home and restaurants are few and far between in Eleuthera.
The views on the front deck are unreal. Pictures can't do it justice. The beach is even better. Beautiful soft pink sand and totally private. We were there for a week and saw maybe 6 people on the beach. There just aren't many houses in the area and no local access. I counted 35 steps down to the beach with crystal clear water. The grounds were very nicely maintained by a gardener, including the beach. The property manager was very nice and helpful. He met us when we arrived and had a bunch of great recommendations.
We were very happy with our stay and can't recommend this property enough. Hoping we can make it back next year!

Peaceful and romantic spot right on the beach
We really loved our time at Desert Rose and I was sad to leave. The cottage is right on a lovely stretch of beach. In mid-January we had the beach almost completely to ourselves each day. The ocean just in front is lovely and swimmable. Beautiful, soft powder sand. Great beach shelter, lots of useful beach gear. You can walk the beach to Tippy’s, and to La Bougainvillea- but the later only at low tide.
The house is very private.
The master bedroom was very comfortable. The small “kids” room had bunk beds which we did not use. We didn’t cook much, but the kitchen seemed well-equipped. The caretaker Daniel was great, and checked in occasionally but otherwise left us to our privacy.
Would definitely recommend the house.
