As soon as you enter the house you'll realize why you rented this property...the VIEWS! The elevated views of Winding Bay and Joseph's Cay are what vacation dreams are made of.
Gone Shelling sits in the middle of Winding Bay, a picturesque and well protected round bay with more than half a mile of soft cool pink sand. The beach is home to a turtle sanctuary on it's northern tip and the big beaches of Crossing Bluff and Joseph's Cay can be enjoyed for those seeking more waves after just a short walk.
Each morning grab your cup of coffee and soak in the sunrise as the dawn breaks. Each morning brings a new portrait of colors, clouds and memories followed by those gorgeous tanning rays.
Take the short winding sandy path to your private and well shaded tiki hut where you enjoy a morning dip or simply watch the day awaken. You'll find two ocean kayaks there, too, along with a canoe for paddling around the bay.
Gone Shelling provides a tranquil natural sanctuary. Located on the fabulous beach at Winding Bay on the Atlantic side of Eleuthera, the house offers some of the best elevated views on the island.
In an effort to enhance the experience, all modern conveniences are supplied. Privacy comes at no additional expense as this property boasts over two acres of land and 200’ of private beach frontage. Gone Shelling is ideal for a couple, small family, or couples traveling together. It is an excellent choice for those wishing peace and quiet who also crave outdoor activities such as snorkeling, bonefishing, and boating.
The house includes expansive ocean views through large windows and sliders in every room, two air conditioned bedrooms, an excellent fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms (one ensuite) and a large book library plus Dish TV, Internet and phone. The views, sundeck, privacy and tiki hut set it apart especially on this part of the island.

I had the pleasure of renting Gone Shelling for 3 weeks this August. It was the perfect respite - peaceful, serene and lovely. The house is very well equipped. In all my years of renting on Eleuthera I never had a TV and that was actually quite nice in the evenings since I was by myself. Each morning I woke up and enjoyed a fantastic new sunrise over the horizon. The colors were breathtaking and each morning brought a new collage of colors, clouds and delights.
I cooked in mostly and used the beach in front of the house, but did get to explore a bit. Joseph's Cay was amazing and I love seeing the oodles of turtles at the north point of Winding Bay.
Gennette and Charles were always very attentive. Winding Bay is an excellent location to explore from and I loved the dune buggy ride out to Lighthouse with Ralvin Brown and his son Alexio. Got to see some really interesting and unique locations with Ralvin as well.
I highly recommend Gone Shelling for the vacation of a lifetime!

We had a wonderful time. Charlie and Genette are wonderful people and quite helpful. Local knowledge is under appreciated!
We loved the house. Its the third house we've rented on Winding Bay and we liked it better than the other two. It's comfortable and has a great layout. We'll definately be back.
Thanks for your responsiveness and recommendation. Much appreciated.

We have been coming to Eleuthera and Winding Bay for many years. Gone Shelling is in a beautiful location and the house did not disappoint. The views are amazing, and we used the kayaks daily. The only downside during our vacation was spotty internet (typical on the island) and no TV service. But really - who needs these things when you are there?? We hope to return again next year!

Thanks for staying at Gone Shelling and apologies for the technology issues. The DirectTV issue has been corrected and we're pretty sure we've resolved the intermittent Internet issues, too!
This property is located in Winding Bay which is the best location in Eleuthera for direct access to the most remote and beautiful beaches on the island. Bought fresh fish and lobster off the boats at Tarpum Bay and shopped at the best market in Eleuthera close by in Rock Sound. Rented a great Jeep with clearance from Charlie-great guy! Alice is also a gracious and friendly assistant. We explored many gorgeous beaches-some of the best in the world IMO. The kayaks were great to fish and snorkel from in the crystal clear bay. The north end of the bay is a nice protected beach on days when the easterly winds are coming in. The whole area around Winding Bay is full of natural beauty. If you come to Eleuthera, buy ‘the Beach Book’ which offers great assistance in your explorations and rent a reliable car with clearance to handle the back roads. Thank you so much for this outstanding rental property that provides all one needs for a wonderful trip in complete comfort and relaxation. Hopefully we will be back soon! -Kevin & Kelly

This was our second Spring Break trip to Eleuthera and we wanted to have our base more to the South then our Governor's Harbour stay of last year so we settled on Winding Bay in the Tarpum Bay / Rock Sound area and Gone Shelling. It turned out to be the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the stunning beauty of this part of Eleuthera. The house was a crucial component to our enjoyment. Before we arrived all the logistics were handled quickly and thoroughly by the owners and they answered many questions we had with patience and helpfulness. We provisioned the house from The Market in Rock Sound and Alice the caretaker was kind enough to handle it’s arrival so when we got there we could start our vacation immediately. The house itself sits slightly above the water so the views from all the windows capture the ever changing shades of blue as the light changes. It's one of those houses where everything seems to be exactly where it should be and was designed for enjoying the view, or cooking or star gazing. All in quiet privacy. The light streamed in from dawn until the afternoon and we always had a good cross breeze. The breezeway was wonderful for having meals. The kayaks provided were really nice ones (Necky's) great for exploring through the cut to Half Sound or going around the small cay to the South. Since we travel in Spring it can be very windy at times but the water at Winding Bay is protected so there was never a time where we couldn't get in / on the water.
We would return to Gone Shelling with no hesitations because it's a perfect set up. Right on a beautiful sheltered bay. Stunning view of that bay. Everything you need in and outside the house. Great owners and local assistance. Very close to one of the best markets on the island and some of the most beautiful beaches you've ever seen. What more could ask for?
