Gone shelling an island gem.
We didn't want to leave. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was magical. Star gazing--- somehow the stars seem closer than at home. Watching the sunrise every morning from the balcony or from the master suite was amazing. The home was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The house has amazing ocean views, and the beach actually has soft pink sands. We found shells right at the low tide mark our first morning. The cabana was a wonderful retreat from the sun. We kayaked most days and took long walks...you can walk bay after bay. The ocean colors changed thought out the day and it was a study in color. The house is decorated with island shells, and a nature/tropical theme. A giant mirror in the living room means everyone has a view of the ocean. Alice the house keeper came mid week to clean and was very helpful in wanted to ensure we were happy. The attached screen porch was our favorite place to eat--- overlooking the gardens and the ocean. Many days we would not see anyone else on the bay. Bone fishing in the flats. Exploring the cut to half sound. We rented a car but really spent most of our time exploring the area on foot or kayak. Often we would retire to the den at night to go through the nature guides to see what we had seen or found. It was fun to learn the names of shells, fish, birds etc. We have rented this home before and are eager to see the updates in between visits. Updated kitchen this trip! Unlike some homes, this one is taken care of and if there is an issue Alice is very helpful. On a previous trip the washer broke. We called Alice and two days later a new washing machine was installed. The hide a way bed is not comfortable. (Have yet to find one that is...). So large groups would not work at this house. It was perfect for a couple or up to 5 quests. We can't wait to go back.
