Best vacation ever

I spent two weeks at this lovely home on the beach. It is decorated beautifully. there's lots of room. Many amenities. the beach is gorgeous and no crowds I loved it I enjoyed walking the beach and searching for shells. The owners/caretakers are fabulous and attentive to all my needs. There are many sites to see and explore right from the home. Or you can relax and soak up the sunshine.

Naturalist play ground.

My wife and I are naturalists. We have traveled throughout the world for research as well as vacation. Many places are ruined by over crowding and pollution-- Gone shelling is a unspoiled natural beauty.

Eleuthera is freedom and Gone shelling was the perfect get away. My wife would point out cruise ships in the dead of night passing by. The star gazing was incredible.

We enjoy an active lifestyle so the kayaks and canoe was great to explore other beaches, the cut and half sound.

Everyday I would walk the beach seeing box fish and sting rays. Amazing pin cushion star fish community right in front of the house!

My wife loved being able to run on the beach and the sand is pink/cream color. You can walk to a cay and explore many beaches and rock formations.

Snorkeling through the cut and going out past the protected bay we snorkeled at each end at large reefs north and south of the property. The reefs are in good shape and have not been destroyed like other tourist traps. We saw a pair of eagle rays.

Returning after our adventures we would wash our gear at the foot bath and I loved taking a shower outside at night or during the day. (We felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves).

The home was clean and very comfortable. I got the best sleep. The house is well ventilated and we were able to have a nice cross breeze. The ceiling fans were a plus for an afternoon siesta. There is ac in both bedrooms but we never used them. To be awoken by amazing sunrises every morning right from our bed.

When the wind would die down we would eat on the screened in porch.

My wife thought the house was tastefully decorated. I appreciated all the local art through out the house.

We never used the satellite tv and the owners had offered to remove it if we wanted. We don't have kids so we said to just leave it but my wife was happy that his distraction could be eliminated. Your in paradise...way to much to see and explore.

The bay is protected by reefs so there is flats and shallows for fishing and those who aren't great swimmers or have little ones.

If you are looking for a tourist trap destination spoiled by pollution and tourists Eleuthera wouldn't be your thing. If you want an adventure in nature and tropical delights I would highly recommend gone shelling as your home base for an amazing vacation.

Gone shelling an island gem.

We didn't want to leave. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was magical. Star gazing--- somehow the stars seem closer than at home. Watching the sunrise every morning from the balcony or from the master suite was amazing. The home was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The house has amazing ocean views, and the beach actually has soft pink sands. We found shells right at the low tide mark our first morning. The cabana was a wonderful retreat from the sun. We kayaked most days and took long walks...you can walk bay after bay. The ocean colors changed thought out the day and it was a study in color. The house is decorated with island shells, and a nature/tropical theme. A giant mirror in the living room means everyone has a view of the ocean. Alice the house keeper came mid week to clean and was very helpful in wanted to ensure we were happy. The attached screen porch was our favorite place to eat--- overlooking the gardens and the ocean. Many days we would not see anyone else on the bay. Bone fishing in the flats. Exploring the cut to half sound. We rented a car but really spent most of our time exploring the area on foot or kayak. Often we would retire to the den at night to go through the nature guides to see what we had seen or found. It was fun to learn the names of shells, fish, birds etc. We have rented this home before and are eager to see the updates in between visits. Updated kitchen this trip! Unlike some homes, this one is taken care of and if there is an issue Alice is very helpful. On a previous trip the washer broke. We called Alice and two days later a new washing machine was installed. The hide a way bed is not comfortable. (Have yet to find one that is...). So large groups would not work at this house. It was perfect for a couple or up to 5 quests. We can't wait to go back.
