My place, "Getaway", is close to the beach and has great views and wonderful beaching and snorkeling opportunities. You’ll love "Getaway" because of the views, the ambiance, the outdoors space, interior comfort, quite location, peace and the close proximity to the sea. "Getaway" is good for couples and families (with kids).
THE SPACE
The main house is well maintained, open, and is of a clean modern architectural design with a comfortable atmosphere. On one side banks of french doors open to long, screened, covered verandahs facing the sea, and on the entrance side to an enclosed garden.
‘Getaway’ comfortably houses 4 people with an open living, dining and kitchen area, one master bedroom and one open loft room. Available for weekly rentals starting at $1,750 a week or at $250 a day for two people.
INTERIOR
The house contains banks of turquoise painted French Doors, opening toward large full length verandahs facing the sea on one side and, the interior gardens and entrance road, on the opposite side. Natural Mexican shellstone tile, stretching from the interior ground floor surfaces to the verandas on both sides of the house, blurs the line between the interior and the exterior. The colour of the Mexican shellstone, similar in hue to the beckoning beach and the sea green hues of the painted wood trim and doors, is simple reflection of the greater surrounding beauty.
An expansive “A” frame roof stretches the full length of the house and provides an open roomy feel to the living room and kitchen. In this living area, comprising half of the floor plan of the house, the full magnitude of the spaciousness is felt. It is here that the interior of the house reaches it’s highest point, at the apex of the beams, some 20 feet from the floor.
A modern bathroom separates the living/kitchen area from the master bedroom and essentially divides the floor plan and the elevation of the house in two. Above the master bedroom, a loft, with white washed pine floors, provides support for a second large airy bedroom that peers down over the living area.
Interior ceilings are finished with exposed tongue and groove roof sheathing. Also exposed are 3” x 10” structural rafters of the house, giving the impression, when one is luxuriating on the comfortable living room recliners, that the hull of a sturdy, seaworthy boat has been carefully flipped over and placed overhead.
EXTERIOR
The undulating terrain gently slopes from the entrance road down towards the sea. Built on a rocky site with large sink holes and a cave Getaway was delicately placed to minimally impact this beautiful site.
Pathways, with soft grass joints, lead from the entrance drive to the entrance verandahs of the main house. Just to the left of the walkways as you approach the house is a low native stonewall enclosing a lush planting of palms and hiding the opening to a cave. The cave entrance drops to about 8’ below ground level revealing a long enclosed cavity stretching the full length of the house. The cavity is about half as long as it is wide.
Back at ground level (over the cave) a walkway leads to a lush tropical breezeway that opens out onto the seaward side of the house. In contrast to the more manicured coloured tropical landscape on the entrance side of the house, the seaside landscape celebrates the beauty of the indigenous shrub woodland vegetation, comprising salt and wind tolerant trees and shrubs, common to this area. Most of the vegetation on this side of the house was undisturbed during construction; with foundation planting consisting of native salt tolerant seagrape hedges. Mature Gumelemi trees frame views from the verandah to the sea.
A meandering, stepped walkway leads down to the sea where rock outcrops and the beautiful beach are gently caressed by the sea. These same rock outcrops ensure that the stretch of beach adjacent to the house is kept hidden and private. Beyond the beach the sea stretches out to the horizon; the view from here uninterrupted and limitless.

4 bicycles available for guest use
1 double person kayak for guest use

Extremely private and secluded with its own backyard beach.
This might be the most secluded rental on all of Eleuthera. If you are seeking privacy then you will not be disappointed with Getaway. The house is immaculate. Everything is labeled. Attention to detail in everything in the house.

We loved our stay in Current. The house was very clean and felt cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a couple meals in the evenings. We mostly stayed on the back porch or down by the water when we were there. Make sure to take bug spray! The bugs get vicious in the evenings! We had a large stingray swim by right in front of the property! We jumped in the kayak and went along with it for a little while. It’s very private!! We didn’t see another person unless we left to go into town. The only downside was the mattress downstairs and the pillows. They could be replaced, but that won’t stop us from staying there again in the future.

Our return visit was just as wonderful as our first time! Getaway is a beautiful home and property, fully stocked with many little things we didn't know that we would want. At the end of a road, it is also wonderfully peaceful and quiet.

Wow, what a great time we had. First let me thank thank Tim for being so kind as to work my ever changing date of arrival. The joy of flying Non-Rev. my wife and I escaped once again to this magical island without our children for some well deserved alone time. From North Eleuthera airport We took a cab and first stopped at the liquor store then headed to the grocery store for some basic essentials ($ 40 cab) We Then met Karen in Current for assistance to the house. She gave us the lay of the land and was a delight. If we ever had a question she was always reachable. The house had everything that we could need for our time in Eleuthera. We enjoyed the location for the first two days without leaving. We rode the bikes into current and grabbed some snacks and lobster from Karen’s small store. Played in the crystal clear water, explored the coast line with the kayak. Enjoyed peaceful sunsets with the occasional boat passing by. Never even saw a soul on the beach. If you are in need of some valuable time away from the crowds and overpriced drinks this is it. Eleuthera is a hidden gem and we always look forward to our visits. I would definitely come back Thanks for a fabulous time We already miss it

Getaway is an incredible property through-and-through. My wife and I visited in early February, and Karen/Pedro/Tim could not have made our visit any more enjoyable or easier. We arrived to ELH, picked up our rental, stopped by Burchies (recommend picking up groceries, Getaway has a great kitchen and grill!), and then headed to Getaway. Karen met us in Current, showed us to the house, gave us a quick tour, and then we quickly settled in and flipped our switches to vacation mode. The property is incredible. You can take your time exploring the jungle, the caves, the beach, the tidepools, and the water. Tons of local flora, creatures, and everything that Eleuthera has to offer. As for the house itself, it is perfect! The massive front and back porches are a dream, and the open common area in the house is great. Tim has taken the time to label (in what had to have been a painstaking process) so, so much in the home. It is incredibly helpful! As for the location, it is easily one of the most secluded places that I have ever visited. With that being said, it is still no more than a 20-30 minute drive to many of the sights of Northern Eleuthera. In 4 full days, we were able to visit Spanish Wells, Ben Bay Beach, Gaulding Cay, Whale Point Beach, Twin Sisters Beach, the Glass Window Bridge, Sapphire Blue Hole, Tay Bay Beach, and the local beaches in Current. Like the title says, just Getaway!
