Paradise Found!

Ocean Daze, put simply, is paradise!

Our first impressions of Ocean Daze exceeded all of our expectations! What an absolutely breathtaking view! The pictures on your website, while beautiful and tantalizing, do not compare to the reality. We gazed in awe and surveyed the different views for I don't know how long. I think our grumbling stomachs after our long trip finally snapped us back to reality! Shaun had pre-stocked the house with several basic essentials we had ordered from the Market in Rock Sound, so our first few days of food and beverages were already conveniently there for us. We spent our first couple of days exclusively at Ocean Daze, enjoying the peace and quiet, the bathtub-like ocean, the cool breezes, and the indigenous wildlife. Our first few evenings found us star gazing for what seemed like hours. The night sky there is so absolutely clear, I was able to identify (with some help from an iPhone app) things we could never spot at home. And yes, that cloud overhead that never seems to move is the Milky Way! Later each evening, Venus rose over the ocean. One particularly clear night, we took a late swim, and the reflection from Venus on the water was so bright, it was almost like swimming under moonlight.

Of all of our experiences and adventures on the island, our time at home at Ocean Daze was easily our favorite. The peace, quiet, and privacy were what we were really looking forward to, and that's exactly what we got. In our 10 days at Ocean Daze, we saw people walk by our beach twice. During our walks on the beach, floating in the sea, staring at the crystal clear night sky, or our time just sitting watching the waves, we honestly felt like we could be the only people on Earth. Since our return, we have been regularly discussing when is the soonest we can return for more Days/Daze at Ocean Daze!

Forever Indebted!

Our first impressions of Ocean Daze exceeded all of our expectations! What an absolutely breathtaking view! The pictures, while beautiful and tantalizing, do not compare to the reality. One particularly clear night, we took a late swim, and the reflection from Venus on the water was so bright, it was almost like swimming under moonlight.

After a couple of days, we began to venture out in our rented car (that Shaun had waiting at the house for us) to explore the island. Among our journeys, we visited the Island Farm for fresh fruit and produce, Wesley Methodist Church in Palmetto Point (Big Daddy's church) for a warm and unique service on Sunday, Ocean Hole in Rock Sound, the Glass Window Bridge, Ten Bay Beach, the fisherman in Tarpum Bay, Island Made Gift store in Gregory Town, Tippy's, Dolce Vita, The Bistro Restaurant at Sky Beach club, rocky Caribbean beachs for shelling, and our spectacular little cove just south of Ten Bay beach.

Of the restaurants, Tippy's had the best food by far. The cold avocado soup was delicious! The food at Dolce Vita and The Bistro was fancier, pricier, and not as good. The very best meals we had, without question, were the meals we made at home. Cooking is a hobby of mine, so I relished the opportunity to prepare meals with the fresh local fare, then cook it while watching, hearing, and feeling the ocean right in front of me. The fresh fish purchased in Tarpum Bay was incredible! $5 for 3 whole fresh fish?!? We even made fresh marinated, grilled conch that was delicious!

Great island getaway

We're recently back from our second stay at Ocean Daze. The house is terrific -- spacious, airy, roomy, fully equipped for whatever you want to do, whether it's snooze on a hammock, sit under the wide porch roof and read a book, play board games, watch movies, cook a big meal, or grill cheeseburgers in paradise.

Sited on top of a dune overlooking the beach, you are sheltered by rustling palm trees on a very private patio. A few steps take you down to a spectacular stretch of beach lined with large and mostly secluded private homes. (Many afternoons, we were the only ones on the beach.) The beach is great for taking long walks, and the water in front of the house is wide open for easy swimming. (There are reefs near some neighboring houses for a bit of snorkling too.)

Windemere Island is safe and quiet, and well-located to give you easy access by car to both the north and south parts of the island for exploring, dining or shopping. But mostly, you'll want to stick close to home base and soak up the sun and tranquility at Ocean Daze.

A Week In Paradise

"Whenever I am stressed I close my eyes and imagine myself back at Ocean Daze. I have traveled to many places over the last 30 years and have to rate this as the most relaxing, "get away" I have ever stayed at. The beautiful breezes made even the summer heat feel comfortable. The beach walk was amazing, new "treasures" were washed up every day. The ocean was beautiful and my son spent hours playing in the kayak and jumping waves. I also liked the fact that because of the elevation I could easily watch my son down on the beach from the upstairs patio. On the one day that it was a little rough, we were able to cross the road and swim in the Sound - where the water is incredibly clear and clean.

My favorite spot was the back patio, where I sat and tried to read my book. I say "tried" because by lunch time the color of the ocean was so breathtakingly beautiful, with a myriad of different colors of green and blue, that I found it hard to keep my eyes on the book. At night time we sat outside, with a beautiful breeze keeping the bugs away, and watched the incredible night sky, including a few shooting stars too. Tippy's was a fun restaurant to frequent, right on the water. I loved the library at Governor's Harbor too - the view from the upstairs balcony was remarkable. The amenities were excellent and Sean was always available if we had any questions. I hope to go back to Ocean Daze, and with so many places in the world still left to visit, that says a lot. "
