WISH House at Double Bay

The thing we love most about visiting Eleuthera is the low key, easy-going, "make your own paradise" feeling you get as soon as you arrive. If relaxing on a beautiful Carrirbean beach and watching the surf roll in is your idea of paradise, you've come to the right place! And you won't find a better location on the island to do just that than the Wish House! The house is a mere minute walk to the pink sand beaches of Double Bay. Over a mile of beach practically to yourself. The cabana was a great place to stretch out in the hammock with a cold drink and watch the waves. The house's large bedrooms (2 on the main floor, the third is accessed below the rear deck) were very comfortable and each had it's own bathroom. The kitchen has everything you need to cook your own meals (if you're so inclined) and the rear deck provided a great spot to watch the sunrise, or just stretch out on a lounger and watch the palms sway in the breeze. Looking for a great place to relax? The Wish House is it.

Fantastic Location and Great Owners

We really cannot say enough good things about this house. The location is absolutely perfect - easy to find, super close to Island Farm and the beach at Ten Bay, and just a short ride into Governor's Harbour. I would like to say we explored other beaches on the island during this trip, but the beach at WISH is just so stunning that we didn't even try. We walked forever in both directions and only saw three couples the entire time we were there (and they could have been the same people). The entrance to the water is nice and sandy, and there is a fantastic palapa built right on the beach with a hammock and chairs. If it's not terribly windy, there is some good snorkeling not far from shore - my husband saw a sea turtle. The grounds are lovely, there is a huge deck with lots of seating, and the house had all of the cookware, appliances, towels, etc. that you could possibly need. We made all of our meals there because it was just too hard to tear ourselves away from the beach. I especially want to thank the owners for being incredibly responsive to our many questions via e-mail before and during our stay. They were a pleasure to work with, and we hope we can come back soon.

A Wonderful House in the Paradise

We do realize that this review is a loooong overdue...

Please, excuse our lateness. We spent a wonderful week or so at this house. It was our first trip to Eleuthera and the Bahamas. We loved the place and the whole Island so much that we going back there this coming Spring. We are sorry we could not get to the Wish house again, as it is already booked. We would love to go back there again..

Honey and Jim, thanks a lot for the unforgettable vacation we had at your place. The house is great, the location is awesome! We loved kayaks, long early morning walks along the beach (no people there). The beauty of the Atlantic Ocean there is unforgettable...you cannot see ocean like that anywhere in the US.

We brought bottles filled with beautiful pink sand back home. Our kids were thrilled to be at the Island. People there are like your best friends, even though they don't know you. We can see now why you chose the Eleuthera and the Double Bay. Everything was great and there are not enough beautiful words to describe our stay there!

Consider this one

First time to Eleuthera, first time to Double Bay. This property is very nice. Everything you need to relax. Comfortable house, grounds immaculately tropical, pink sand, perfect water, gazebo by the water. Cell phones didn't work well which now that I think about it, was a good thing! I think we saw 5 people all week (other than the fish fry we went to on Friday which is a nice little change of pace for vacationers). Car rental recommended, the owner of this property hooked us up with that was was very accommodating in every other way as well. Enjoy

Relaxing Stay at Wish!

My family and I spent a fantastic week at Wish House on Eleuthera. The home was perfectly situated on the most beautiful, private beach allowing us to enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, beach combing and general relaxation! The decor was lovely and the furnishings comfortable. Loved having coffee every morning at the thatched hut right on the beach. Had a fun time at Tippys for New Years--food was amazing and the music and dancing fun. The Fresh baked cinnamon rolls and fruit from Island produce were a delicious morning treat. the island was refreshingly untouristy. The only surprise--how costly the grocery was! Bring what you can from the mainland to save $$. Thanks again!
