Bahama Beth

House was everything and more. Fully equiped, and then some. Extras in the cupboards, spices ,etc. and now there is more (since we brought some) Very spacious. Purified drinking water was a great plus. Caretahers are wonderful people-like family to us. Beautiful ocean view-sunrise and sunset from the porch. Thousands of stars at night. Kerry, the homeowner was very helpful at helping us locate places to eat, beaches, and more. The house was "away from it all" so it was very private, and quiet. The bedrooms were very cozy. Bedding new and comfortable. Furniture all new and very tropical. A really great rental

Governor's Harbour within view but very Private.

The home was located a short distance away from Governor's Harbour and in a very private location. The viwes from the upper porch of the dolphins and sea turtles, not to mention sunrise and sunset and the thousands of stars at night was amazing.

There was plenty of swim equipment Floats ,etc.) and outdoor chairs, coolers, and fishing poles located in the storage room downstairs. One very large cooler to take to the grocery store or to pick up fish or lobster from Governors Harbor-giving you time to relax and stop at Ronnies for a couple cold ones before heading back to the house.

The interior was immaculate. Great to have purified water, and the cupboard had all the spices you can imagine (plus we left some too). Everything we needed and more was ALREADY there. We just re-stocked what we used (sugar ,etc.)

The caretakers treated us like family. Hugging us before we left and even gave us some jam and botled tomatoes to take home. They are there right away if you need them.

Kerry ,one of the owners was prompt to ask our numerous questions about anything and everything you could imagine from "Where is your favorite beach located" to "who has the best conch salad."

The outdoor grill was something not all rentals provide, but came in ery handy. With a charcoal grill and the island wind, you csometimes may wait a long time to get dinner ready!

If you have never been there, be sure to travel the gauntlet to Lighthouse Beach. Pick up a map at the Tourism Department in Governors Harbour across from Mark's Burgers. This map is really large and detailed. I plan to frame mine for home. THis map will direct you to whatever it is you want to see. Also, use the Beach guide provided in the house.

This was a great place for 3 friends. We'll be back soon, but not soon enough.

Thanks Kerry!!

Dream vacation - Nov/Dec 2011

My husband and I stayed here for 13 days, and had a dream vacation. The house is beautifully decorated. Fully paneled in pickled wood paneling, and great beach themed art work throughout. The bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice. Didn't use washer and dryer a lot, but they were nice to have and full size. Close line downstair on porch is great for towels. House is only a few years old so everything is in new condition. Wonderful house, fully equipped with everything.

Kitchen has all you could ask for including a full drawer of all spices, etc. We ate breakfast at the house everyday, and dinner except for 2 nights. Had to go to the Fish Fry in Governor's Harbor on one of the Friday evenings. My husband caught a Nassau grouper in front of house that we had for Thanksgiving dinner, along with lobster from the dock at Governor's Harbor. Remember to bring frozen meats with you on the plane. It's worth it! We used the grill on the porch a great deal.

Watched the sunrise and set everyday from the porch or down by the water. Beautiful beyond words looking out over the water. Saw a porpoise, turtles, and a large ray. In addition, of course, to innumerable fish jumping all over the place. Levi island is straight out in front of the house. There are 2 sets of binoculars to use at the house and they are great to use out on the porch. Snorkeling is great along the rock edges, especially at lower tides. Many varieties of fish and other sea life there.

Went out in the kayak and of course caught fish and saw lots more. Beach chairs and other outdoor chairs are available, along with some basic fishing rods and tackle, and other swimming floats, etc. My husband had mostly his own tackle, since he was out for the bonefish. Was successful on our outings and caught 8. Outside shower downstairs has hot water as well as cold. Wonderful!

Location is perfect. 5 minutes from Governors Harbor not much further from the Gov. Harbor airport. Groceries, gas stations, restaurants, etc all in Governors Harbor. Make sure to bring cash, though, almost no place takes credit cards. No exaggeration.

The Eleuthera Book of Beaches is a GREAT resource when out exploring for the hard to find beaches. The harder it is to find, the better it is. Whiteland Beach was our most favorite, down near Rock Sound. Twin Cove, Med Beach and Poponi are closer and very beautiful as well.

Hope you enjoy as much as we did!!!!

Caribbean Paradice

This was our first trip to the Bahamas and we could not have picked a better place to stay in Eleuthera. The house was everything they said it would be and more. All the bedrooms were large enough so we did not feel cramped. The kitchen was well stocked with anything we needed for cooking, cleaning and drinking. Livingroom/kitchen was open and very comfortable. The balcony was wonderful and we spent EVERY morning sitting on it watching the sunrise over the hill top (on the left) drinking our coffee. We grilled a couple of meals outside on the balcony and sat at the table enjoying the breeze as it blew across. At night, we sat on the balcony and could see the small township of Governor's Harbour. We saw a couple of ships bringing in supplies. The water was beautiful and we enjoyed snorkeling right out in front of the house. The steps going into the water was good but could be a bit slippery!! Make sure to were some kind of beach shoes. There were hand rails to help secure the entry into the water. The island right across from the house was a great place to kayak and snorkel around. The town was very laid back and the people were friendly. Shopping was limited but nice. The food was expensive but good. Tippi's was the best place as far as gong out to eat. (We ate there twice.) We would absolutely recommend this place for anyone looking for peace, seclusion and a laid back atmosphere. The owners were very helpful with any questions we had. The airport is just about a five minute drive to the house and Governor's Harbor was about another five minutes. Beaches were BEAUTIFUL and PINK!! The entire week we were there we saw maybe 8 people on a beach. Very private. The best beach we found, we called "Cpt Jacks" because we could not find out what the actual name was. Look for the sign on the same road as Tippi's. Make sure to request an off-road type vehicle. (Truck, jeep or van, etc) Most roads going to the beaches are bad and not suited for low riding cars:(

Overall trip................GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS.......bring your pillows;)
