Just What We Needed - Quiet, Private, Views of the Ocean

My wife and I really enjoyed our time at High Seas. Never slept better while listening to the ocean and feeling the sea breezes. The cottage had everything we needed for cooking, cleaning, linens and beach activities. The only thing missing is a second chaise lounge for the deck.

The cottage is near the middle of Eleuthera which makes it good for sightseeing and beach hunting. We relied heavily on The Beach Book to point us to the best beaches, each one is an adventure.

Jackie's' notes about local restaurants and stores were extremely helpful. Remember, cash is a must and don't expect to find your favorite brands or foods. You get what you get so don't throw a fit.

Our favorite find was the 1648 Restaurant at the French Leave Resort just north of Governors Harbor. Beautiful setting, excellent staff and wonderful food. All that and no more expensive than some of the local places.

Hello Rex, I loved reading your review and hearing what a wonderful time you and your wife had at High Seas and on Eleuthera. “You get what you get and don't throw a fit” had me chuckling. I am trying to get that second chaise fixed after a guest broke it but failing that I shall be shipping a new chaise lounge out. Definitely need two on the deck to enjoy lounging! High Seas Christmas 2019

Staying at High Seas over the holidays was a great opportunity to explore and learn about Eleuthera. While we had traveled in the Abacos, we were new to this island. The central location of High Seas made it easy to explore many beaches and communities in central/north Eleuthera. Renting a car from Laura, the caretaker of High Seas, was seamless and made our experience of driving on the island easy. The property allows for viewing of lovely sunrises over the Atlantic. While it was a little windy early in our stay, the weather at this time of year was perfect and we experienced few issues with bugs, compared to previous reviews. The open layout of High Seas, combined with two full baths, made our stay with two teenage girls, very convenient. The decor is as represented in the photos, with a relaxed beach feel. We cooked a fair amount of meals, and the kitchen supplied all the basics. The lighting in the kitchen was adequate but could be better for preparing evening meals. We appreciated the washer, but the humidity makes getting clothes entirely dry a little challenging. Jackie was very responsive and helpful in all phases of the trip, and the guide she provided about the island and its resources was extremely useful. Laura also oriented us to the house and island, and was readily available for any questions we had during the course of our time at High Seas. Overall we really loved our stay at High Seas and would highly recommend it as a comfortable and convenient location when staying on Eleuthera.

Thank you for a lovely review of High Seas and Eleuthera. It paints a very helpful picture to anyone considering Eleuthera for their vacation. That is a great point about the kitchen lighting! Perfect Spot in Paradise

My husband and I stayed at High Seas for 2 weeks during our third visit to Eleuthera. The Rainbow Bay area is the perfect home base for exploring the island with easy access to settlements both north and south. Rainbow Bay Beach is minutes away, as are Hidden Beach and Smugglers Beach. The proximity to the Rainbow Inn was also great for a quick meal, especially on pizza nights.

We absolutely loved the house itself -- we ate most of our meals & enjoyed many-a cocktail out on the deck looking out to the ocean. All you need to do is look out to see how the Atlantic is doing to decide which side of the island you'd like to beach it for the day! At night, the view of the stars is incredible.

The master bedroom was spacious and extremely comfortable, and we loved preparing meals in the open kitchen. There were a very few minor issues (wifi had been knocked out by a storm before we got there, hammock chain snapped), but Jackie and Laura were so quick and responsive to everything. They made us feel truly at home and were in touch with solutions & tips. The house is meticulously maintained, and it was the perfect cozy haven for relaxing at the end of our days spent in the sun. We would certainly return and can't wait to be back!!

Where to start?...first off, the property owner, Jackie is amazing! She is so attentive to your visit...she corresponds and gives you absolutely every piece of information about the property and amenities that you would need to know. Likewise with her caretaker, Laura. In a word, they're "wonderful"! She also helped with our car rental which went so smoothly. They took all the cares and concerns from traveling, thank you!!

Now for the property and location. Perfect! We have stayed in Spanish Wells and the Ten Bay Beach areas once before and this is now our favorite! The home description is spot on and even exceeded what we imagined. We weren't bothered with the usual no-see-em visits thanks to the breezes, so we could enjoy the peaceful deck views every morning and evening. High Seas is spotless and has everything you could ever want or need. We were so very comfortable...I could go on and on.

The area is perfect for traveling north or south, as well as having a great grocery store, Great Rock and restaurant, Rainbow Inn nearby. The owners of both are so pleasant and friendly as well. Turns out we discovered our favorite beaches nearby as well.

I can't say enough for the friendliness and peacefulness of Eleuthera. The people are so lovely and you'll have no bad meal wherever you go. We did Pasquels at Sky Beach, Daddy Joes, Mel's and Lee's, Rainbow Inn and the Conch shack. We missed a visit to the Front Porch (sounded great) and luckily we had experienced Tippy's and the Fri Night fish fry at Gov. Harbour before.

All in all, we hope to be able to come back to High Seas. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful home with us Jackie! We're grateful for the memories.

Fabulous and so relaxing!

Gorgeous house with all the things we needed to have a fun and relaxing 5 days! Jackie is a wonderful and communicative host, all her tips and suggestions for how to beat enjoy the Island were spot on!

Can’t wait to return, we will miss watching sunrise on the balcony!
