Love and Happiness

Look no further, you have found your getaway! This cottage is a true ocean front gem and I will definitely go back! You will love the amazing snorkeling (bring your gear), a great outdoor shower and breath taking views of the Caribbean. The three living areas gives you plenty of privacy. It has a well stocked kitchen and is close to a great restaurant. You will want to rent a car because this Island has more great food and must see places. Play Al Green's song Love and Happiness when you get there:-)

Perfect Location for our Family/Friends

This was such a lovely house! We met for a 50th Birthday get together and it was perfect! It was very private and yet so very close to stores and restaurants. Snorkeling right off the pier was extraordinary. I would definitely stay here again and I recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful vacation.

Truly Magical

This was our fist trip to Eleuthera and it could not have been any better! The cottage was beautiful and just perfect! Snorkeling off the deck gave us views of things we'd only seen on TV and honestly didn't think were possible to see or experience. Fish of ever color and starfish galore, we even saw some friendly baby jellyfish and stingrays. We got fresh lobster and grouper right off the fishing boat at the boat ramp in Governors Habour and there was lots of good seasonings and a perfect pan to cook both in the cottage. The outdoor shower was a wonderful experience as well, there's just something about showering naked, outside, while looking at the Caribbean Sea! The cottage is very secluded and my husband and I took great pleasure with that, hardly wearing clothes our whole time (except when we went to town of course)! The people on the whole island are so friendly and so kind, it was a magical experience. If you're lucky enough to go, please drive about an hour north and visit the Glass Window Bridge, it was SPECTACULAR! The Sunset Inn, which is walkable, was fantastic too! I could go on forever talking about what a truly magical experience we had! Life changing really! And we CAN NOT wait to go back! Thank you Wayne & Susan, for sharing your piece of unspoiled paradise with us!

A perfect honeymoon in a magical place

It was my first trip out of the country and I can't imagine a more beautiful place for such a venture. To say it was an eye opening experience would be an understatement due to the gracious, relaxed and happy life Eleutherans abide by. We forgot about schedules and our life at home for days other than to think about how everyone would enjoy the island life. Edgar and Chico were incredible hosts as they pointed us in the direction of some beautiful beaches. We are determined to make time in the next year to visit again, because honestly Governors Harbor and the entire island infused our marriage and lives with more happiness than before.

In short, thank you for all your hospitality. It was truly a perfect honeymoon in a magical place.

Peaceful Restful Hours by Water's Edge

Peaceful and restful hours by the water’s edge are what we sought and found at this secluded location just outside the charming village of Governor’s Harbour. Just yards from the cottage we could dive into a clear sea, swim or snorkel. Other times we would sit on the deck with our books, relax, talk and most importantly, unwind. There are magic times when the water becomes as still as a pond and as reflective as a mirror. It is a transfixing phenomenon and there is no other place we would want to be.

The cottage, called Chez Cay, is actually two structures with picturesque views of the sea. (The on line photos are very descriptive.) The main cottage is a clean well-appointed kitchen, dining area and living room in an open plan, with a sleeping loft and half bath. Adjacent is the bedroom cottage: a master bedroom & bath and a small bedroom with two twin beds. A favorite feature of ours is the large outdoor shower between the two cottages with an open view to the sea – a perfect place to rinse off the salt water after a swim or experience a relaxing and scenic shower at the end of the day. Make a ritual of enjoying a sunset cocktail on the deck at water’s edge.

It was hard to tear away from our spot by the water but, as we mostly enjoy doing our own cooking, we made shopping trips into town. Governor’s Harbour and adjacent Cupid’s Cay are enchanting. Meet the fishermen and select from their fresh catch. Ask grocery store clerks when they will have the freshest produce from supply boats. There is a bakery for fresh bread, pies and cakes. The owners & caretakers of Chez Cay will provide of tips to make your stay memorable.

There are more restaurants in Governor’s Harbour than we could visit, but we had good meals at the Buccaneer Club and Sunset Inn (very close to the cottage). An authentic find is Pammy’s Take Away – breakfast and lunch only. Pick up a Breakfast Sandwich and enjoy eating it by the harbor. The weekly Friday night Fish Fry is a great local event.

If the sea at the cottage is rough it is probably a good day for pink sand beaches and a beautiful turquoise ocean, just over the hill in Governor’s Harbour. Check out the Banks Road Deli and two tourist oriented restaurant bars on the beach: Tippy’s and The Beach House.

There is a lot to discover in Eleuthera. Chez Cay is a perfect cottage for island adventurers, for those who prefer nesting in one place and for people who want to do a bit of both.
