Pure enjoyment

Wayne and Dianne (and a few lovely little dogs) were very welcoming and provided us with everything we needed.

At arrival we had even welcoming drinks, welcoming book, and cocktail recipies

The highlights of our stay: kayak boat trips to Ten bay, snorkling and meetings of colourful fishes and even a yellow ray, a couple of pelicans at sunset, (among other great experiences) a day to ocean hole and south point where both oceans (caribean and atlantic) meet together..

The view from the terrace is marvelous and the house well equiped.

We were very sad to leave mermaid point and would like to come back !

Thank you again dear Dianne and Wayne

Great location, very nice house.

This is great little house centrally located on the island. More than adequate for 2 people. When we arrived there was soft music playing and all the ingredients for a nice tropical drink were waiting for us, including 2 cold beers in the fridge! Within 2 hours of our arrival my husband caught a large snapper right from the gazebo for dinner. We enjoyed using the kayaks and my husband frequently fished from both the kayak and the gazebo. The snorkeling wasn't great for us because the wind was often blowing from the West during our stay and the water was choppy but that's Mother Nature. On those days we travelled to the amazing beaches on the other side of the island. Ten Bay is close and we enjoyed walking there to catch the sunsets on most evenings.

The Wamplers are a very interesting couple. We enjoyed a drink with them on our last night there and met their girls, Daphne, Sassy, Martini and Olive. We enjoyed chatting with them and appreciated the information they shared regarding the island and how they ended up there.

The house is very private and the Wamplers are friendly but they aren't intrusive whatsoever. In fact we didn't even know they were home for most of the week.

The house has a decent supply of pantry items including seasonings, sugar, oil and some liquor. All paper products and soaps are provided. This is really nice because most grocery items are extremely expensive on the island and who wants to shop when you're on vacation? There are plenty of towels, including beach towels, and beach gear (chairs, umbrella, cooler, etc.) available to use.

Regarding the gnats and the wifi: We used bug spray once or twice but the wind kept the bugs away for most of the week. The wifi was only sketchy one day otherwise it worked fine. We only used it mostly to check the weather. We try to leave the technology at home on our vacations! There were more channels available on the tv than we have at home. It was nice for catching some ball games at night and getting my Walking Dead fix.

Eleuthera is a great place to visit if you're looking for a quiet, laid back vacation. The beaches are amazing and the people are very friendly and relaxed (nice change from the States). There is no traffic and we never felt unsafe. Renting a car couldn't be quicker or easier. Mermaid Point is a great place to stay if you're looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation.

Mermaid Point, southern of Palmetto Pt on the Bay side, 2 min walk from Ten bay Beach

Beautiful, gorgeous spot...super nice and helpful owners who live just down the hill from the house, which overlooks the ocean. Great to have kayaks, super snorkeling off the cliff jump right outside. There is also an easy entry to the water on the other side of the property. You know within ten minutes whether Eleuthera is for you. It is NOT Atlantis, but rather a rural, gorgeous island with wonderful people, lots to explore.

Another Wonderful Holiday

This was our third time visiting Eleuthera and second time at Mermaid Point. We had a fantastic holiday swimming off the point and soaking up the sun on 10 bay beach. We did a road trip to Spanish Wells and took in the Christmas evening Junkanoo in Tarpum Bay but the rest of the time we were quite happy just to enjoy the beautiful views from the house. There is a new grocery store in Savanah Sound which was really convenient as it is only 10 minutes away.

We stayed for 11 days and look forward to returning again. Thanks so much Dianne and Wayne.

Lovely home with fabulous snorkeling

We very much enjoyed our stay. The ocean is fabulous and very worth braving the access ladder needed to get to the water. Just an FYI here- it's much easier at high tide. The snorkeling was some of the best on the island-most days we didn't leave, instead just took the kayaks out exploring for more reefs, of which there are plenty. The house is clean and cool and lovely. They owners considerately leave large bottles of shampoo and conditioner, as well as soap, and there are seasonings included with the fully stocked kitchen. No need to pack beach towels, they are provided, as well as some beach chairs. A great place to stay.
